What is an importer of record?

An Importer of Record (IOR) refers to an importer, whether an entity or an individual, who is responsible for ensuring that legal goods are imported in accordance with the law of the place to which you’re importing the goods.

As the importer, you’re responsible for filing legally required documents.

The ‘importer of record’ document contains payments of the import duties and taxes on the imported goods.
