What are the different types of ocean shipping services?

There are a few types of ocean shipping services. Here’s an overview:

Container Yard to Container Yard (CY/CY)

This means the carrier will start handling your container from the origin port and complete their handling process at the destination port.

Door to Container Yard (Door/CY) 

This means the carrier will start handling your container from the warehouse or factory they picked up the cargo from and complete their handling process at the destination port.

Container Yard to Door (CY/Door) 

This means the carrier will start handling your container from the origin port and complete their handling process by delivering the cargo to your warehouse or distribution center.

Container Freight Station to Container Freight Station (CFS/CFS) 

Typically for loose cargo, this means the carrier will handle combine your cargo at the origin warehouse with other cargo into one full container. This means the carrier will also handle transiting, then breaking the container back into loose cargo for your pickup at the destination freight station.

Door to Door (Door/Door)
