How long does it take for me to receive my shipment?

Written by Shippabo | Apr 30,2019

The length of time it takes for you to receive your shipment depends what type of service it is: an FCL ocean shipment, LCL ocean shipment, or air shipment.

Note: When using Shippabo, our team takes your IN-DC date requirement into consideration when booking your shipments.

Shipment Time for FCL Ocean Shipments

Once the shipment has arrived on the given ETA, the vessel may take up to 2-3 days to have the container discharged off the vessel. Once discharged, an appointment can be made with the terminal to have a trucking company pick up your container for delivery. The estimated time frame to receive your shipment may take an additional one or two days after discharging.

Shipment Time for LCL Ocean Shipments

LCL Ocean Shipments follow about the same process as a FCL shipment: shipment will arrive on the given ETA and the vessel will have to discharge. Once completed discharged and is available for pick up, a Container Freight Station (CFS) warehouse will schedule a trucker to have the container picked up from the terminal and have it brought back to the warehouse for deconsolidation or de-vanning. This is the process of opening the container and separating the shipment by their own respective clients. Depending on when the container has arrive to the CFS, deconsolidation or de-vanning may take up to 24-48 hours before the shipment will be available to have a trucking company pick up from their warehouse. In short, receiving your LCL shipment may take up to a week after the ETA.

Shipment Time for Air Shipments

Air shipments is a faster pace. Once the shipment has arrive to the airport and is available, we have two free days to have the shipment picked up for delivery before storage fees will occur. Estimated time to receive an Air shipment may be up to two days after the given ETA.
